Miscellaneous:
- Special thanks to the Corning Rotary Club. With their support and generosity, they will begin a project to replace tables, flag and water fountain at Northside Park. Please stay out of the construction areas.
- I had a conference call with the California Public Utilities Commission regarding PG&E and municipal service programs.
- I attended the Corning Community School Advisory Team Meeting.
- We met with the consultant to begin the work to complete the Development Impact Fee Comp Study.
- The Fiscal Year Audit has been completed, and was presented to City Council at the March 25th City Council Meeting.
- We have started phase 2 of the Tyler Technology ERP implementation. This week we began working on data conversation and the recreation platform.
- The Tuesday Night Market Ad Hoc Committee met to finalize details for the first Tuesday Night Market on April 1st.
- Staff met with developers regarding Salado Orchards Phase II.
- Staff will begin the Fiscal Year 2025/2026 Budget process in April.

Community Event & Street Closure Notice:
Tuesday Night Market:
The first of five Corning Tuesday Night Markets will take place on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. To accommodate the event, Solano Street will be closed between 3rd Street and 6th Street.
- Street closure begins: Approximately 4:00 PM for event preparation.
- Street reopens: Following the conclusion of the event.
We encourage residents and visitors to attend and enjoy the local vendors, food, and entertainment.
Current Projects Out for Bid:
Tehama Street Rehabilitation Project:
- Bid Deadline: Today, March 28, 2025, by 2:00 PM.
- The contract is scheduled for award at the City Council meeting on April 8, 2025.
City Pool Preparation:
City staff have begun cleaning and preparing the municipal pools for the upcoming summer season. Minor maintenance work will be conducted over the next few weeks to ensure the facilities are safe and ready for public use.
Almond and Fig Street Rehabilitation Project:
VSS Inc. is progressing with the Almond and Fig Street Rehabilitation Project.
- City staff and the contractor are collaborating with local schools to minimize disruptions during student drop-off and pick-up times.
- The current phase of construction is complete, with work set to resume in mid-April.
Building Department:
25 Inspections performed
9 new permit applications
18 Project Final Inspections completed, Including 5 new homes in the Magnolia Meadows Subdivision.
RECREATION DEPARTMENT:
Community Health Hero Award:
Corning Recreation won the Community Health Hero Award and will be attending the Board of supervisors meeting in Red Bluff in April.

Sign-Up Information: Junior Giants Baseball & Flag Football
As summer approaches, be sure to mark your calendars for the Junior Giants and Flag Football registration, beginning April 1st. To make the process as convenient as possible, we will be at the Tuesday Night Market on April 1st from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Stop by to register in person and ask any questions you may have about our summer programs. In addition, we are actively seeking volunteers, particularly high school students, to assist with our summer activities. Volunteers will receive community service certificates upon completion of the season.

PLANNING DEPARTMENT:
Housing Element:
Staff is working on the 16 zoning text amendments required by the state within our 7th cycle Housing Element. We are planning to take the Ordinance to the Planning Commission in May.
New Development:
Staff received a submittal package from the Salado Orchards Apartments Complex to build 24 new apartments, the project will go before the Planning Commission on April 15th.
ADU Ordinance:
An updated ADU Ordinance was sent to HCD for review on Wednesday March 26, 2025.
POLICE DEPARTMENT:
Patrol:
In addition to responding to 139 calls for service, there were 239 officer-initiated incidents, including 120 traffic stops, and a total of 29 officer reports were taken. Officers made 14 misdemeanor arrests, (1 of which was a juvenile), 5 felony arrests, (1 of which was a juvenile), 8 misdemeanor citations, 4 unclassified, 2 parking citations, and 12 infractions during the period of March 19, 2025, through March 25, 2025.
Dispatch:
During the period of March 19, 2025, through March 25, 2025, our Dispatch Center received 229 inbound calls for service. In addition, they responded to 30 incoming 911 calls. All calls were answered within 10 seconds of their ring time.
Training:
All Officers continue to participate in POST Portal Training and Lexipol Daily Training Bulletins. Other POST online training continues for Patrol and Dispatch personnel.
FIRE DEPARTMENT:
Corning Volunteer Fire Department (CVFD) Call Volume:
The Corning Volunteer Fire Department responded to 25 calls for service last week, they were: 18 medicals, 1 traffic collision, 1 fire and 5 public service.
