TO:        MAYOR AND COUNCIL

FROM:  KRISTINA MILLER, CITY MANAGER

DATE:   November 26, 2021

NOVEMBER/DECEMBER CITY HOLIDAYS:

  • November 25th & 26th (Thursday & Friday) Thanksgiving
  • December 24th & 27th (Friday and Monday) Christmas

CITY MANAGER:

COVID-19 in Tehama County:

Cases of COVID-19 are decreasing in Tehama County with six new cases (8,675 total Tehama County confirmed cases to date), 2 new deaths (129 total to date in Tehama County), currently 5 hospitalized patients, and 4 ICU beds available in Tehama County hospital(s).

City Staff applied for reimbursement from FEMA for costs responding to the pandemic.  The primary expenses allowed to be reimbursed are PPE, plexiglass, and sanitization costs.

State of California Small Community Drought Relief Program:

City Staff submitted a State of California Small Community Drought Relief Program grant application to potentially install new City well(s) and extend the City water system to areas with dry wells.  Under the terms of the Grant, $192 million is available statewide on a first-come first-served basis.  I received notice that we are in the next layer of review. I will continue to provide updates as they become available.

PUBLIC WORKS:

Leaf Pick Up:

Leaf pickup will continue as time allows.  Leaf piles must not have branches, brush or other debris or they will not be removed.  Please make sure leaves are not blocking gutters preventing water flow.

Vandalism of City Properties:

The Soccer Park was tagged with Graffiti. City Staff has already cleaned up the Graffiti.

Voluntary Water Conservation Program:

We still have not received enough rain to significantly impact the water table and many of our neighbors are still without water. Please continue to do your part in conserving water.

City Staff wishes all a safe and happy Thanksgiving
